Hot dogs are one of those iconic meals that give us a reason to fire up the grill for a nice quick satisfying meal. But, if you are like me, you have eaten so many and like to find ways to dress them up and make it exciting. This Hawaiian Hot Dog Recipe will do just that, it also keeps it simple and quick for an awesome tasty dinner. I think the best part of this particular recipe is that they are footlong hotdogs wrapped in bacon, yes BACON! Okay, let’s get to it!

Hawaiian Hot Dog
Ingredients
- 6 pack of footlong hot dogs
- 1 lb Hickory bacon
Pineapple Salsa
- ½ Pineapple cubed into smaller mini cubes
- 1 cup Cilantro chopped
- ½ Red onion diced
- 1 Lime juiced
- Salt to taste
Sriracha Mayo
- 1 cup Mayo
- ¼ cup Sriracha
- 1 Lime juiced
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Make your sriracha mayo by adding a cup of mayo in a mixing bowl and then adding the sriracha, lime juice and salt. Mix it well until it has a nice consistency to it and then place in the fridge. Use a sauce bottle if you have one to make it easy to add your sauce to the buns.
- Pre your pineapple and remove the skin and core. Chop into cubes and make them into mini cubes’ bout a 1/4”. Add the ingredients into a large mixing bowl, that’s pineapple, cilantro, red onion, lime juice and salt to taste. Mix well and then place them in the fridge.
- Fire up your griddle, or flat top grill surface, and set the temp at medium heat (this is important because you don’t want to burn the bacon before the inside of the hotdog gets cooked.
- While the griddle is warming up, begin to prep your bacon wrapped foot long hot dogs. Start with a single strip of bacon and start at one end of the foot long hot dog and wrap it tightly, pulling on the bacon enough to stretch it out. It will take about two strips of bacon per footlong hot dog.
- Now place your bacon wrapped foot long hot dogs on the griddle and make sure your sealed side is down and crisp first. Go about two minutes and then rotate to check the crispness of one side. Keep flipping every 1-2 mins until your bacon is fully crisp, to your likeness, all around the foot long hot dog.
- Once they are done place them on a resting tray and toast your buns, about 1-2 minutes.
- Get all of your ingredients from the refrigerator and sauce your buns first, add the bacon wrapped hot dog and then top with the delicious Pineapple Salsa that you made.
- Serve and enjoy with friends and family!
