I said it once and I’ll say it again, steak and potatoes are the best combo ever! This time, I did something a little different and roasted garlic to spread on my steak and then I mashed the potatoes. This recipe is just amazing and it’s perfect for an impressive date night, too! Let’s get to the recipe!

Roasted Garlic NY Strip Steak With Cheesy Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
- 1 NY Strip Steak
- 1 Whole bulb of garlic
- 1 tsp Kosher salt
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
Cheesy Mashed Potatoes
- 3 golden potatoes
- ⅓ cup Chives
- 1 tsp Kosher salt
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1 cup Asiago cheese shredded
- 3 tbsp Butter unsalted
Instructions
- Start off by prepping the potatoes, peel the skin and then cut into cubes. Have a pot of water over medium-high heat, boiling, and add 2 teaspoons of salt and boiled the potatoes for 30 mins or until it's softened where you can easily poke a toothpick through.
- Once the potatoes get into the water, set your steak out and begin to bring to room temp.
- Prep your garlic by cutting the top off the bulb and add some avocado oil and a pinch of salt. Wrap in foil and then place on the grill at 325 degrees. Let it roast until the bulb becomes squishy soft.
- About 25 minutes in, the garlic bulb begins to season your steak and get your grill set up for searing.
- Season the steak with salt, pepper and garlic.
- Once the steak is seasoned check the potatoes and strain them when soft. Once strained, place in a mixing bowl and add the chives, butter, cheese, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Begin to mash the potatoes until it’s soft and combined. Place it to the side.
- Place your steak on the grill for direct grilling. Flip every min until the internal temp is 125-128 degrees and then remove for resting. During resting use 3-4 cloves of the roasted garlic and add to the steak, spread it on the steak. Rest for 6-8 mins and slice.
- Now it’s time to plate and serve!
- Enjoy with family and friends!
